An estimated 50,000 believers marched and prayed in Washington DC on September 26th, 2020. It was a joint effort between Jonathan Cahn and Franklin Graham’s ministries.
Last weekend 35,000 people participated in the finale of Sean Feucht’s Let Us Worship Tour. They walked the streets of DC, worshipped, and prayed for people. Some were attacked and they counted it an honor.
Believers continue to believe. They continue to follow Jesus. They may get discouraged, but they get back up. They call upon Jesus and they go back to it.
Please take a moment to consider this tender passage from Paul to a group of believers.

1 Thessalonians 3:4-11 (NLT) Even while we were with you, we warned you that troubles would soon come—and they did, as you well know. 5 That is why, when I could bear it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out whether your faith was still strong. I was afraid that the tempter had gotten the best of you and that our work had been useless.
6 But now Timothy has just returned, bringing us good news about your faith and love. He reports that you always remember our visit with joy and that you want to see us as much as we want to see you. 7 So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith. 8 It gives us new life to know that you are standing firm in the Lord.
9 How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God’s presence. 10 Night and day we pray earnestly for you, asking God to let us see you again to fill the gaps in your faith.
11 May God our Father and our Lord Jesus bring us to you very soon.

It does not help us to deny reality.

When we call reality cynicism or negativity we do ourselves an injustice.  Positivity and Negativity regard what one does with reality. Ignoring reality is a fool’s tool.
So, there will be difficult times. So what. Are you going to let difficult times break your faith? Are you going to allow challenges to keep you from other believers?
This is not the time to hide in your home. It’s easy to surround yourself with comfort foods. But, we can’t just escape into our favorite streaming service until this blows over.
Hard times are the times we need our Christian Family the most! We NEED to pray for each other. We NEED to share what we are hearing from God. If we could state our fears and concerns to another Christ-follower, we could pray for each other and let them go.
This hope that things will soon settle down is killing us. We don’t even need that. Our real need is for a deeper connection to our Father and to Jesus through the Holy Spirit.
Do you want to grow? Don’t we need to grow? Then our troubles must drive us TO our Father and INTO our gathering of believers. When the troubles of life isolate you, you become easy prey for our enemy.

What can you do?

Please don’t take my words as heavy-handed. This is not an attempt to get everyone going back to church. But, I do mean that we need to connect with others.

Matthew 18:20 (NLT) For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

How long has it been since you have had a real conversation about your faith? When did you last discuss a scripture that you have been thinking about? Have you tuned into a sermon video or podcast and chatted with a friend about it? Have you had someone over or joined someone for coffee to minister to each other the things God is teaching you? Have you prayed with anyone lately?
Stop feeling bad about it. We all lose our way. It’s normal to panic when things change suddenly. NO MORE GUILT! I love you. You love me. We love US! Just… Do Something.

Pray for someone.

Send them an actual prayer by text. Get together and intentionally minister to each other. Don’t talk about “nothing” until you are out of time. Talk about Jesus, the Word, The Father, The Spirit, and your struggle with everything. And, pray for each other.
Did I mention that we should pray for each other? I need prayer. I REALLY need prayer right now.  Wouldn’t it be awesome if we believers began sending actual prayers to each other? If we typed and sent prayers to local officials, to teachers, and to our faith leaders? Prayers sent by email, text, recordings, and personal visits would change things.  I believe sincere prayer would change the atmosphere of our city. Do you think it would?
I was on a prayer call with several pastors around Wyoming and Governor Gordon last week. Our Governor admits that he needs prayer. He is the one who asked for the call. Our state needs prayer.
I was thinking about this the other night. “What would happen if every believer in this state committed to pray that the virus is stopped? What would happen if 50 Believers in Rock Springs prayed that way?”
I bet some hearts just caught hold of that.
We are believers who believe. So, I challenge you. NO, I dare you to send one prayer a day 5 days a week to somebody for as long as you can!
