An elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time.
Three months down the line, the dog gave birth to six puppies.
Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another half-dozen puppies.
The pattern repeated, and on the eighteenth month the dog approached the elephant and asked, “Are you SURE you’re pregnant?”
The dog continued, “We first became pregnant on the same day. Since then I’ve given birth three times and those puppies have now grown into big dogs. But you’re still pregnant. What’s going on?”
The elephant replied: “There is something you need to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant.”
“I only give birth to one baby every two years. When my baby hits the ground, the earth will rumble and the trees will shake. When my baby crosses the savanna, human beings will pause what they’re doing and watch in admiration.”
“Your pups may live ten or twelve years. My calf will make an impact for over fifty years. Together with our herd we will make roads, transform rivers, and change entire landscapes.”
“The baby I’m carrying will be mighty and great, and will draw attention and demand respect from every man and animal on earth!”
Today, embrace the waiting and trust in God. He has a mighty plan.
If you haven’t received your own blessings yet, don’t despair. If you haven’t received the answer to your own prayers yet, don’t lose heart.
When you see others around you receiving answers to their prayers, don’t be envious and don’t lose faith. God has not forgotten you.
God is not merely tossing you his scraps and leftovers, either. There is a plan in the works that God is putting together with your best interest in mind:
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
Ephesians 3:20 MSG
Today, read this passage and be reminded there is purpose in waiting for God’s plan to unfold:
Learn well how to wait so you will be strong and complete and in need of nothing.
If you do not have wisdom, ask God for it. He is always ready to give it to you and will never say you are wrong for asking. You must have faith as you ask Him. You must not doubt. Anyone who doubts is like a wave which is pushed around by the sea. Such a man will get nothing from the Lord. The man who has two ways of thinking changes in everything he does.
A Christian brother who has few riches of this world should be happy for what he has. He is great in the eyes of God. But a rich man should be happy even if he loses everything. He is like a flower that will die. The sun comes up with burning heat. The grass dries up and the flower falls off. It is no longer beautiful. The rich man will die also and all his riches will be gone. The man who does not give up when tests come is happy. After the test is over, he will receive the crown of life. God has promised this to those who love Him.
James 1:4-12 NLV
Embrace the waiting and trust in God.
That’s worship.
