Dear Friends and Family,
Life in Laramie has been packed. From landscaping to helping with permitting; restocking various field kits to filling sand bags; through it all the Lord has been my strength and song. Thank you for all your prayers, I feel them. Thank you for supporting me to make this work here possible.
SROM has sent out five courses so far this summer and has 12 more scheduled. Please pray for safety, changed and transformed lives, salvation, and for God to be worshiped in spirit and truth. Praise the Lord for safety, His love, mercy, and the powerful testimonies students have given thus far of God revealing Himself to them.
Since I will not be instructing courses in the wilderness this summer, I am here at the SROM building sending courses out. Through this, the Lord is showing me the absolute privilege it is to serve Him in whatever I am doing. Josh, one of SROM’s directors, explained the position those of us working at the building hold in this way… There is a battle happening in the mountains and those of us back at base are supplying and equipping the troops to enable them to fight well and win. The battle is over the souls of the students. The workers at base are just as vital as the instructors in the field. We are all working together for the common goal of bringing God glory and seeing lives transformed into the image of Christ. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Col 3:23-24) “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Col. 3:2)
With this perspective, all work can be a joy and an adventure of its own. Whether I am behind my desk, conversing with the students, or mulching the side garden, I am a daughter of the King and can bring Him glory by the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling me.
Not all of my time has been at the building though. I did get to tag along for five days of instructor training. We did snow school and crevasse rescue training, scouted out a new rock climbing area that a few of our courses will climb at, and river crossing training in very cold water. It was a blast and I learned tons. I am very grateful I was able to go.
I have been attending Laramie Faith Community Church. It has been great Biblical teaching and a blessing to have the support of a spiritual family. It is awesome to start building friendships with the body of Christ at SROM and church.
Praise the Lord for providing me with a more permanent place to live. I have been staying with a very generous and loving family for my first month here and am so thankful for their generosity. I will be moving in with another family for a more long term situation. Thank you for your prayers!
In Christ,
Emily Cable
