Romans 12:15-16 (NLT) Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

Who would have thought that going to church would be so controversial?

If you ask the question, “Are you going to church this Sunday?”

“What! I’m not going to risk it. I don’t want to catch that virus.” (As we stand in the check out of a packed Walmart.)

Or,

“Are you kidding? I ain’t wearing a stupid mask.” (As they remove the mask they were required to wear at work.)

I can’t help but poke the bear a bit here. I wonder what Chinese, middle eastern, or northern African believers would do. If all they had to do to gather as believers was to wear a mask, do you think they would?

Now calm down, everything is okay.

Why would anyone EVER go to church anyway? Most look for great music and an engaging sermon. But, those are not reasons to go to church. Church is about people. It’s about helping each other follow Jesus. It’s about helping each other through the difficulties of life,

So, do you have those people in your life? If not, you need them. So, go to church in person, zoom, or virtual. Go to your fellow believers. Among them give your gifts and receive their gifts. We need each other. And, in this life, all we really have or need is Jesus and each other.
