Ezekiel 9:4 (NLT) He said to him, “Walk through the streets of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of all who weep and sigh because of the detestable sins being committed in their city.”
Do not ask Facebook about anything in general. But, never ask about anything remotely political. I have discovered that I really don’t want to know my friend’s political opinions. It’s okay, I’m sure they don’t want to know mine. If I were to state my opinions, I would lose all of my friends. And, my opinions really aren’t worth losing my wonderful friends. So, this is not that.
Ezekiel 9 is a disturbing chapter, to say the least. God marks those who are grieving over sin and destroys everyone else. Sounds harsh I know, but it raises a personal question. Am I grieved about the state of my country and by extension my own personal comfort. Or, am I grieved by the terrible sins that are destroying the people in my country.
I don’t know if you know this but – and this may come as a shock – the Bible has nothing good to say about ANY earthly Government. The only government God accepts is the one submitted to His rule and reign. What does that mean? The governments of men are not the answer.
The answer is Jesus. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. And, He is the solution to the horrific sins that destroy people.
So… Should we grieve over the things in our country that frighten us? Of course, grief is how we heal and let go of the pain.
But of greater concern is the rampant sin that is destroying families, businesses, and people. Sin is the problem and that is where we need to be grieving and crying out to God to save us from the sins of our world.
As depressing as that sounds, it is the fastest way to peace and deliverance.
