Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT) Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
My first attempt at riding a bicycle did not go well. I was so excited. My Dad gave me a push… And… Well, what I thought was going to happen is that I would magically know how to ride a bicycle. I expect to fly down that hill at an exciting rate of speed. (Yes, my dad started me on a hill.) I was very surprised in the very next moment to be rolling at a high rate of speed down that hill but without the Bicycle. It was a little while before Dad coaxed me back onto that bike.
Life is hard. Life with Christ is even more difficult. And, We all have unrealistic expectations. Add to that our typically myopic belief that we are the only ones who struggle, and you have a recipe for quitting.
Would you ask God to bring someone to mind today? When He does, would you send them a prayer? Maybe you could get a coffee appointment and encourage them. Maybe you could listen to them for a while. How encouraged would you be if someone just offered to sit and listen to you?
