Enough is ENOUGH!!!
I love the book of Colossians because it so plainly and simply declares the Answer. Jesus really is the believer’s everything. In a world where there is never enough, it is completely countercultural to believe that Jesus is simply enough in and of Himself, but He is…
Jesus is Enough for the Scientist
I am sure that sounds interesting. After all, will God and Science ever make peace. It is so often presented in modern academics that God is optional or even not allowed in the scientific fields. However, the question I wonder is this, “Is it that God is absent from science or, is it that scientists ignore God?” Doesn’t a world without God raise a far greater number of questions than a world with one? Paul wrote…
Colossians 1:16-17 (NLT) for through him (Jesus) God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
This is God’s version of the story. Modern science holds to several differing views. Most based upon the assumption that nothing suddenly became something. One christian writer I read years ago once wrote, “I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist.” I often ponder the possibilities that might open to our scientific community if we simply embraced God’s version of the story.
Jesus is Enough for the Church
There was a time that I often considered the question, “What ministries in the church at large would cease to exist if the Holy Spirit were removed.” I was a little discouraged that so much was done out of the earthly resources available rather than from heavenly promises. Really, if pressed, we would have to confess that it takes a lot more to be the church today than it ever has before.
Colossians 1:18 (NLT) Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body…
Jesus… That is the church’s only real answer. Sure, we do counseling. We host services, lead programs, and busy ourselves with a plethora of activities. But, in the end, the only real answer the Church possesses is the provision that God has given. His Son, Jesus, is the gift. Everything else, no matter how helpful it may appear, is only effective when it continues to give the gift of Jesus.
Jesus is Enough for the World
Colossians 4:5-6 (NLT) Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Every other path that a person may pursue in order to find peace, hope, and even heaven will eventually come to a dead end. Jesus is the only Way, Truth, and Life possible or even actually available. It is so important that His followers live lives marked by His Grace. Jesus intended that our very existence as Christians would display such joy, peace, love and hope that the world could not help but notice. That is not to say that our only means of presenting Jesus is by our lifestyle, but our lifestyle should definitely harmonize with our message. To say that Jesus is peace, but live in a manner that is chaos and anger would be hypocritical. The world needs Jesus. They need to see that He is enough. If we live as though He is enough, it will help greatly.
Jesus is Enough for Sinners
Colossians 1:21 (NLT) This includes you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions.
A person’s separation from God, caused by their own “evil thoughts and actions”, is their most serious problem and must be resolved before their life is over. Jesus is the ONLY way to resolve that separation. He is ENOUGH. He will never be less than ENOUGH. In regards to family, marriage, friendships, and even on the job, Jesus is Enough.
LOVE!
