If you are considering Ordinary Faith as a place for you and your family to worship and serve, please take a moment to review our overall direction as a church. There are a number of things about us that may be different from any prior church experience you have enjoyed. Our practices are intentional and based upon our Vision, Values and Mission.
Our Vision
We are Ordinary People in pursuit of an Extraordinary God.
Hebrews 11:6 (NLT) And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
We are a Christian Church. Hopefully it will make it even more clear to state that we believe that Jesus is the Only True Answer, and our only way to God. And, That is awesome!
John 14:6 (NLT) Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
As a Christian Church, we believe that it is very important that everything we do and believe is centered upon Jesus and grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Because of this, we believe that Jesus is our example and not an exception. Because of this, We believe Jesus behavior as recorded in the Gospels establishes a pattern for the lives of all who would follow Him.
Our Values
The Bible is our Moral Authority. The Bible guides us into “right” and away from “wrong”. We believe the Bible was written by God as he moved and inspired people to speak, sing, pray, and write (2 Peter 1:20-21). We know that God has and will always preserve His Word (Psalm 119:89). The purpose of the Bible is to reveal Jesus as God’s Final Answer (John 5:39)!
We Hold to five simple Doctrinal Statements. The Bible is God’s Word. God is Three in One. Jesus is Fully God. We are saved by Faith. And, There is Life after Death. You could learn more from the link below. Our doctrinal statements are simple but important because a proper understanding of God and His expectations are critical to a healthy and powerful relationship with Him.
[Five Doctrines Every Christian Believes]
We don’t argue about Bible translations, dress codes, religious or denominational rules, worship styles and many other things (2 Timothy 2:23-26). Those kinds of arguments can make following Jesus, as demonstrated in the Bible, very confusing.
With those things out of the way, we are free to do the things that we believe God loves. We love the Holiness and Righteousness displayed and defined in Scripture. We love to encourage, teach, serve, and help people. We love following Jesus. And, we love mentoring others as they enjoy their relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Our Story
We started meeting together several years ago in our own homes. Our desire was to enable and equip each individual and the families that surround them to pursue God and make even more disciples of Jesus. Although there are many excellent churches in our community, we felt our mission and approach were needed. Later we started hosting larger meetings at Western Wyoming Community College twice a month. And, in 2012 we began weekly services at the Young At Heart Senior Center. In 2014, our lead pastor, Micheal Maynard, who was bivocational at the time, left his job to serve Ordinary Faith full time. In 2016, we hired Arlo Amundson as an assistant pastor.
Our Mission
We Help Ordinary People live an Ordinary Faith and Experience an Extraordinary God.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT) Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
We believe that every believer is on a mission from God. Engagement in that mission is very important if we are to enjoy and experience a rich life of Faith. Here is the simple framework we use to explain this journey. We Start by Trusting Jesus. We Live to Honor God. And, We Mature by Helping Others. We would love to share it with you. So, we hope you will take our Foundations Class, which we offer monthly. But we will expand on them some in the remaining lessons in our Discover Ordinary Faith series.
